Switching from Buildium

You can connect Buildium directly if you have a Premium plan, or export CSV files from any Buildium plan.

Option A: Direct Connect (Buildium Premium)

Buildium Premium includes API access with self-service key generation.

1. In Buildium, go to Settings > API Keys
2. Click Create API Key and name it (e.g., "ScoutzOS Migration")
3. Copy the generated key
4. In ScoutzOS onboarding, select Connect Your Software and choose Buildium
5. Paste your API key and click Connect and Import
6. ScoutzOS pulls your properties, units, tenants, and leases
7. Review and confirm

Option B: CSV Export (Any Buildium Plan)

Exporting from Buildium:

1. Log into Buildium
2. Go to Reports
3. For properties: run the Property Directory or Unit Directory report
4. For tenants: run the Resident Contact report
5. For leases: run the Lease Summary or Rent Roll report
6. Click Export on each report and choose CSV
7. Save all files to your computer

Uploading to ScoutzOS:

1. During onboarding, select Upload CSV/Excel
2. Upload each file and ScoutzOS will auto-detect Buildium column names (ResidentName, RentalProperty, MonthlyCharge, etc.)
3. Review the mapping, fix any mismatches, and import

Import properties first, then tenants, then leases.

What transfers

All core data transfers via either method: properties, units, tenant profiles, leases, and rent amounts. Direct Connect also brings over maintenance history and payment records. Documents and accounting history are available via Direct Connect on Premium plans.

After importing

Verify your dashboard data, invite your team, and set up Stripe for rent collection.
